About Uma Wylde

After qualifying as a cordon bleu cook from Elizabeth Pommeroy’s School of Cooking in Kensington at age eighteen, Uma moved to Beverly Hills, California as a personal cook for a wealthy family who enjoyed entertaining on a lavish scale.

Two years later, Uma returned to Europe to take up the position of resident chef on a private luxury yacht. She spent the next three years cruising the Mediterranean cooking gourmet food for a sophisticated clientele, including film stars, playwrights and a smattering of English and European aristocracy.

Uma has several years experience of corporate and private catering. She was contracted by Hanson Trust plc to cook daily lunches for the directors boardroom and occasionally cooked for the CEO Lord Hanson and his partner Sir Gordon White.

Uma had the pleasure of working as a ‘taster’ for a society London caterer specialising in Government hospitality. Her remit required her to mingle with guests at cocktail receptions, dinners and formal banquets and sample the food served to ensure the quality, taste and presentation was of the highest standard.

More recently, Uma has written and published a cookery book ‘Everyday Easy Gourmet’ an eclectic collection of gourmet recipes from around the world.

bbc-glosBesides providing free recipes here on her website, Uma writes for Cotswold Essence Magazine and is the resident on-air cook for BBC Radio Wiltshire where she regularly dishes out her no nonsense cooking advice.

Uma also gives bespoke cookery lessons from her beautiful home in the Cotswolds and occasionally demonstrates at food festivals.
