So the truth will out…eventually.
Jamie Oliver’s latest cook book ’30 Minute Meals’ gets slammed by fans according to the Daily Mail and The Telegraph. Apparently the recipes don’t live up to the title. The main criticism being that his recipes take far longer than the promised 30 minutes and that cooking them creates far more mess, plus the ingredients are way too expensive.
I haven’t seen the book so can’t comment, however the Daily Mail printed a recipe asking readers if they could possibly manage to prepare and cook it in 30 minutes. And after giving it a cursory glance, my immediate thought was no chef worth their salt would dream of putting mediterranean olive oil into an Asian salad dressing!
But I don’t suppose Jamie cares too much, he’s more likely laughing all the way to the bank as sales topped 1.2 million out selling rival celeb cooks including Nigella and Ramsey.
Nevertheless it does beg the question when will the public cotton on and stop being so gullable.
The Naked Chef is his only (half) decent book and even some of those recipes are suspect. Give me Gordon Ramsey any day, he might have an overblown ego but at least he can really cook. Jamie should stick to Italian.
Disappointing book. Got it for Christmas. Olivers food isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.
I didn’t like the format, since I rarely make deserts. I did cook a couple of dishes from the book and was not too impressed. I like his earlier books though.
I’m a huge Jamie fan.
